The family announces the sad passing of Gordon William Bond Brillinger in the early morning hours of Friday, January 19, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, with his loving wife Pam, by his side.
Gordie was born in Yorkshire England but grew up in Trenton, Ontario. He is predeceased by his father, Gordon, his mother, Molly, and he and Pam’s infant son, Jason. Gordie is survived by his sisters Sally (Len) Kettle of Sudbury, Ontario and his sister Susan (Colin) Tite of Sarnia, Ontario.
Gordie will be sadly missed and forever loved by his dedicated wife of 58 years, Pamela (nee MacInnis) and his three children, Tiffany (Brad)) Ben (Coral) and Jonny (Maggie). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Hannah, Alissa, Abbi, Amity, and Oakley. Gordie had many lifelong friends including Dianne and Rob Farquharson, Susan and Geoff Tucker, Liz and Stan Baker, Blaine (Alfie) and Geraldine Gallant and many relatives across Alberta, Ontario and PEI.
Gordie was known for his sense of humour, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to everything he did. As a young man, he had a paper route where he did so well, he won a trip to New York, and his work ethic was captured in the Toronto Star with a write-up of his accomplishments.
He joined the military police in 1963, where he met Pam on a blind date in Prince Edward Island and they were married six weeks later. He and Pam resided in P.E.I. until 2019 when they relocated to Calgary, Alberta to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Whether at work or at home, he put his all into every task, inspiring those around him to strive to be their best. Gordie was a kind and generous soul who was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He loved animals, antiques, bargain hunting, and watching his favorite hockey team, The Toronto Maple Leafs.
Gordie was a man of faith who loved the Lord, and his warmth and integrity left a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure to meet him. Though he may be gone, Gordie's legacy of hard work and kindheartedness will live on through his children and grandchildren, as he would have wanted.
