Gloria Jean Higgins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Higgins on February 19, 2025, at the age of 72. Gloria was born on September 23, 1952, to Verna and Michael Yaskiw and grew into a woman whose kindness, laughter, and light touched everyone she met.

Gloria was a devoted mother to her two sons, Robert (Janel) and Kevin (Virginia), and an extraordinary grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Breanna, Caitlin, and Jessica. She cherished taking her grandchildren to the circus when they were young, creating memories filled with wonder and laughter. Her laugh was truly contagious, and her light-hearted spirit made everyone around her feel loved and seen.

Gloria found joy in playing bingo and attending coffee dates with her dear friends, who adored her for her warmth and unwavering loyalty. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, attending Sunday services regularly and holding her faith close to her heart.

Gloria was predeceased by her beloved parents, Verna and Michael Yaskiw, and her husband, Wilfred Higgins. She and Wilfred shared 34 years of marriage, building a life and family filled with love. After his passing, Gloria found companionship and comfort in her good friend John, who joined her for Sunday services, coffee dates, and quiet moments of friendship that brought warmth to her life.

She is survived by her sons, Robert and Kevin, her grandchildren, and her brothers Greg (Doris) and Bill (Sue). In her later years, as her mobility became more challenging, Gloria found strength and companionship in her dear friend and caretaker of 26 years, Luanne, and her cousin Linda. Their care, love, and devotion brought immense comfort and happiness to Gloria’s final years.

A selfless and loving woman, Gloria was always more concerned for her family’s well-being than her own. She loved her family with all her heart, and her legacy will live on in the lives of those she cherished most.

A Celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at a later date, where we will honor her memory with the love, warmth, and laughter she shared with all of us.
