Gertrude (Trudy) Margaret (Bishop) Jones

Gertrude Margaret Jones (nee Bishop) It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Trudy Jones. Trudy, age 88, of Calgary Alberta, formerly of Regina Sask, passed peacefully in the early morning hours on May 12,2020, at Wentworth Manor in Calgary. Born, March 10, 1932 in Winnipeg to Bill and Alice Bishop, Trudy was the youngest, and arguably the feistiest of five siblings: Bill, Harold, Mabel and Lillian. Born at just 2 lbs 10 oz, Trudy was sent home in a shoebox to be warmed on the top of the family’s wood burning stove and fed with an eye dropper, or so the story goes. She was tiny but she was tough. Trudy beat the odds and grew-up to be a real beauty with a lovely voice and a kind and patient heart. While in Winnipeg she met and married the love of her life, Don Jones, to whom she was married for 67 years and had two sons. Her family meant the world to her. Trudy also enjoyed her working career at Dominion Bridge in Winnipeg, and at Massey School in Regina where she often spoke fondly of the staff and students. Trudy is survived by her husband Don; her son Michael and his wife Colleen, son Peter and wife Jane; and by three grand-daughters, Kirsten, Haley and Aereonna. She will be missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff of Wentworth Manor for making Trudy’s stay safe and comfortable during her time there. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Alzheimer Society of Calgary.
