Gertrude 'Janis' Lynn Sutherland

We are saddened to announce that Janis passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta.

Janis was born and raised in Selkirk, Mb., but has lived in Calgary for many years.

Janis was pre-deceased by her husband, Jerry Sutherland; her partner, Jim Boyd; her parents, Mother and stepfather, Violet and Al Johnson; and Father, Melvin Sabiston; brother Laurie Sabiston; son-in-law Steve Bent; parents in-law, Lorne and Helen Sutherland; and niece Kristin Sutherland.

Janis is survived by her children, Stacey Bent (Taylor, Brooklyn); Shane (Becky, Molly, Robbie); brother Les (Jorunn) Sabiston, sisters Melanie (Eric) Lubig and Kim Guthrie, in-laws, Marie (Garry) McDonald, Rick (Laurie) Sutherland, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many lifelong friends both in Manitoba and Alberta.

Janis will be greatly missed by all!

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life is planned for the Spring in Manitoba.
