We are so sad to announce that Geri Anne Price (nee Gold) has passed peacefully in Calgary at the age of 79 years. Her heart finally gave up the long and valiant fight. She is pre-deceased by her parents, William John Gold and Irene Hastie Gold.
She leaves behind many friends, her partner of over fifty years, Robert (Bud) Newman of Calgary and her much-loved cat Shadow.
She loved her friends, her cats, staying active at the gym, her Mustang convertible, growing orchids, gardening, and vacationing in Hawai’i.
Although she did not want a funeral or ceremony, we would like to use this web site as her “Celebration of Life.” Please post your memories, photos, and anecdotes to share with her far-flung friends and admirers.
Geri graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree from the University of Calgary (1966) and her career took her to Vancouver, London and back to Calgary. She was Director of Administration at the Vocational and Rehabilitation Research Institute (VRRI, now Vecova), and volunteered for years on the Board at VRRI, many as Chairman.
She enjoyed working at the University of Western Ontario in the Psychology and Computer Science departments and has bonded with life-long friends (“the Girls”). She would often dreamingly recount the lovely early-morning mist-shrouded drive along Vancouver’s Marine Drive to her office in the Medical Genetics building that was tucked in the trees on the University of British Columbia campus.
It is her final wish that her cremated remains be scattered at her favorite three spots in Kona, Hawai’i.
Geri, you will be missed.
“I know deep in my heart
The only dream that mattered has come true
In this life, I was loved by you.” based upon a song performed by ‘IZ’ Kamakawiwo’ole
