With heavy hearts, we announce that on January 27, 2025, Geraldine (Gerry) Cooper passed away at the age of 89 with her son and daughter by her side after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Predeceased by her husband Murray Cooper, son Grant Cooper, grandson Jason Cooper, brother Bud and his wife Helen Stott, sister Jackie and her husband Al Conley, sister Sharon and her husband Phil Allan, we have faith that she arrived at the gates with great excitement at being reunited with them and many others.
Gerry was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grand-mother and was known affectionately by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Ammy”. We take solace in knowing Gerry enjoyed a long, well-lived life. She was able to live independently until the end of her life and handled the last 6 months with remarkable strength and grace. She will be missed so very much by her family.
She is survived by her daughter Robyn Cooper and son Scott Cooper, her grandchildren Brooklyn (Chris) Shill, Trevor Cooper, Christopher (Andrea) Beatty, and Shannon (Chris) Hartwell and her great-grandchildren Liam Allen, Jayden Cooper, Olivia Shill, Jhett Cooper, Madison Hartwell, Riley Hartwell and Cameron Shill as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 44, for the incredible care, compassion and support shown in her final days.
A private family service will be held.
