With the heaviest of hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Georgette "Georgie" Peoples. Georgie passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, at Dulcina Hospice on May 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma at the age of 79.
Georgie is the daughter of the late Ovila Gagne & Jeanne Langevin, and was born in St. Paul, AB. She was the sister of Yvette, Bernard, Paulette, and the late Helen, Madeline, and Kurtis.
She married Joseph Peoples on January 27, 1968, in Goodridge, AB, and shortly after, they moved to Calgary, AB. They shared fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage built on resilience, love and laughter. Georgie was the proud mother of Roxanne and Pam, and the deeply cherished grandmother of Ryliegh, Graham, Jordan and Jessica. A true jack of all trades, she excelled in everything she did. Over the years, she worked in a car wash, lawn care business, renovation cleanup and housekeeping, before finding her spot with the Calgary Board of Education, where she was admired for her dedication and kindness to both students and colleagues, retiring in 2015.
Throughout Georgie's life, she was admired for her kind heart, sharp wit, incredible sense of humour, adventurous spirit, love of gardening, and determination to accomplish anything she set her mind to. After retirement, she found joy in quiet days at home- canning, baking, mastering puzzles and listening to country music. Georgie loved hosting family dinners, and she always lived by "the more the merrier." Georgie was truly the embodiment of love.
Georgie touched countless lives with her generosity, laughter and contagious smile, and will continue to do so as she lives on through her loved ones. She taught each person she met the importance of slowing down and appreciating the beauty in the small things, to embrace adventure (never lost, just in the wrong place), and the true value of always being your most genuine, authentic self.
Georgie’s unconditional love and radiant spirit will continue to shine through all who knew her. She will be missed beyond words.
