Gary Hall Obituary

It is with deep respect and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Hall at the age of 92. A true son of Alberta, Gary, was born in Turner Valley and spent his life building both the province’s industry and its community spirit.

Gary’s journey of service and expertise as he graduated from the University of Alberta. As a Professional Engineer, he dedicated his entire career to the oil and gas industry. His colleagues knew him not only for his technical acumen but for a work ethic rooted in the values of his upbringing. Giving back was a cornerstone of Gary’s life. He was a tireless volunteer and leader, serving as President of the 400 Club and leading the Calgary Stampede Rope Square Association. A fixture of the Stampeders Grey Cup Association, Gary traveled the country flipping countless pancakes, acting as a proud ambassador for Calgary’s legendary hospitality.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Emerald and Keith Hall; his brother, William; and his two sons, Rodney and Brent. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Hall, who was his partner through their many adventures over the past 29 years. He also leaves behind: His daughter, Brenda (Neal Coskey) and their children, Andrew, Hannah, and Graham. The children of his late son, Rodney: Christopher, Jeffery, and Jaime. Eleven vibrant great-grandchildren. His sister-in-law, Janis (wife of the late William), and nieces Shannon and Shelly.

A man of rare global perspective, Gary’s extensive travels allowed him to experience international business and culture in a way few of his generation did. He carried this wealth of knowledge with him, often using his love for trivia to spark conversations with strangers and friends alike. To Gary, every interaction was an opportunity to learn about someone else; he will be deeply missed by the many who were witness to his strength, his kindness, and his genuine interest in the lives of others.

In keeping with Gary’s personal wishes, no formal memorial service will be held. For those wishing to honor his memory, the family requests that donations be made to Gordie Howe CARES. These contributions are made in deep appreciation for all the caregivers who provided such dedicated service to Gary and Marilyn over these past few years.
