Frank Leslie Meichl was born September 14,1957 in Lethbridge, Alberta but lived most of his 67 years in Calgary.
He is predeceased by his father, Frank and his mother, Magdolna who fled Hungary after the 1956 Revolution. They took the SS Groote Beer from Rotterdam, Holland to Montreal, Quebec and then CP Rail to Alberta, during which time his mother was pregnant with him.
The family lived and worked on a sugar beet farm in Milk River before moving to Kananaskis and Exshaw. Finally settling in Calgary in 1964, Frank attended school at St. Anne’s and Bishop Grandin High schools graduating in 1976.
He is survived by his siblings: Susan (Ferenc) of Hungary, Maggie (John) of Aldersyde, Rose, Kathy, Steve and Joe, all from Calgary, as well as nieces and nephews and their families.
He was a simple man who loved woodwork and collecting the tools he needed for this craft. He fashioned dream catchers and developed a distinctive style of landscape painting which he shared with his family.
He was a traditional county music fan with favourites such as George Strait and Brooks & Dunn; watched western movies and any and all wartime documentaries.
