It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Finn Thorkildsen on October 16, 2024, at the age of 75.
Finn was born on February 23, 1949 in Esjberg, Denmark. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1957, and called Calgary his home. He was predeceased by his parents Jens and Edel Thorkildsen, and his brother Jann Thorkildsen. Finn will be deeply missed by his sisters and brother-in-law, Kirsten Wansleeben and Karin (Gord) Hossack, and by his nieces and nephews.
Finn had a lot of passions—a good drive on back country roads, watching long-distance trains go by, counting the cars, cheering on the Calgary Flames, and getting lost in a good ol' country western book. He generously volunteered his time with associations like Stars Air Ambulance, the Calgary Marathon, and the Calgary Police Marathon, where he enthusiastically cheered on the participants.
More than anything, Finn loved his family and they meant everything to him. Finn will be honoured in a private family service.
