Erik Michael Gabriel Olson

With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Erik Michael Gabriel Olson, who left this world far too soon on July 8, 2025, at the age of 27.

Born on August 31, 1997, Erik brought energy, curiosity, and an adventurous spirit into the world from the very beginning. As a young boy, he spent countless hours in the mountains building forts, creating worlds of his own in the wild places he loved. That same passion for nature he enjoyed as a Scout followed him into adulthood, where hiking and exploring nature continued to bring him peace and joy.

Erik had a big heart, a strong back, and a sharp sense of humor. He was happiest when he was working with his hands- whether drywalling, pouring cement, or stepping into his role as an ironworker. With a hard hat on his head and steel-toed boots on his feet, Erik felt grounded, strong and at home. He took pride in hard work, in building things that lasted- a reflection of the strength he carried through his many challenges.

He shared beautiful memories with his family, travelling together to places like Disneyland, Ontario, and Silverwood. He especially loved the mountains of Montana and British Columbia. Erik always wanted to see more, learn more, and live more - his sense of wonder never faded.

Erik is survived by his loving mother Marisa Dotta, and caring father Mick Olson; his devoted stepparents, Kathryn Olson and Rod Woloschuk; his beloved siblings Shaun/Leona, Nicki/Addy, Elizabeth and Thomas. He is also survived by his Grandparents; Lidia Dotta, Les Stadel, Glynis Grigg and Julien Deshutter, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He adored his niece and nephews: Lidia, Joseph, Domenic and Luca.  Erik was truly cherished as a son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Though life brought trials, Erik was deeply loved and will be held in the hearts of many. His presence, his laughter, and his warmth will be missed beyond measure.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to your local recovery center in Erik’s memory - a tribute to hope, healing, and lives yet to be touched,

Rest easy Erik. You built more than walls- you built love and memories that will stand forever.
