Edward Wood Obituary

It is with profound heartbreak, but with great respect and adoration, that we announce the passing of Edward Charles (TED) Wood at the age of 82. Born in Calgary, Alberta on June 28th, 1942, to Edward and Bertha Wood (nee Yuzwenko). Both of his parents predeceased him; his mom in 1975 and his father in 1991. With a decade plus long complicated medical history, Ted fought hard to “not miss anything”  and was nicknamed by some  of his care givers as the “come-back-kid.” Ted peacefully went home to his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, in Cranbrook with his daughter Tamara and son-in-law Tim by his side. Dad was truly one of a kind who was passionate about fishing, pin and stamp collecting, football, golfing, Christ our Lord, friends, good food and family… not necessarily in that order. Rest in peace dad – you are HOME.

Ted is survived by two daughters; Tamara (Tim) Hughes and Kari Wood (Brian Daviduk).  Five grandchildren; Taylor Badock (Olasha Baff), Baylee Badock (Ben Lawrence), Stefan Wood (Hailey Donnelly), Nicholas Wood, and James Wood.  Three great-grandchildren; Zephyr Badock-Baff, Tyler Donnelly and Elijah Donnelly.  His nephew Randy (Alison) Hubscher together with their children Bryce and Alexandra; his niece Anita Hubscher together with her son Tanner (Joleen) Hubscher-Calistenia and their daughters Lyra and Drew.  His ex-wife Sylvia Bruce of Edmonton, his cousin Richard (Trudy) Nibogie and a plethora of MANY dear friends.

Special gratitude to Dr. Bruce Johnson and Dr. Jane Fleet for years of care they gave to dad and kindness extended to Tamara. Also, to Dr. Katherine Wight and the nursing Care Team at Kootenay Street Village Purcell Unit for the friendships and his end of lifecare. May God Bless each and all of you.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor him, where family and friends are invited to attend, on Saturday, May 31st at 1:00 pm. Lake Windermere Alliance Church 326 – 10th Avenue, Invermere, BC with Pst Murray Witke officiating. Reception immediately after the service. An intimate scattering of his cremated remains with only the family present will follow later.
