EUGENE “GENE” JAMES WASYLIW
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugene James Wasyliw at the age of 76, on July 26, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.
Eugene was born in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan, on November 28, 1948. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Dorothy Wasyliw.
He will be forever remembered by his wife of 29 years, Yvette, and his children: Kevin (Crystal), Steven, Ronald (Tammy), Christopher, Dustin, Jim, Carolyn, Bill, and Chuck (Cindy), as well as his “daughter by choice,” Kerry. He will be greatly missed by his nine grandchildren: Peter, Michaela, Angie, Shae (Levi), Brayden, Nick, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, and Evalynn. “Grandpa Gene” was thrilled to be getting an upgrade to “Great Grandpa Gene” in the coming weeks with the expected arrival of Shae and Levi’s first son. Gene will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.
He worked as a building contractor for over 30 years, primarily in Alberta and Saskatchewan. He taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work—and reminded them often to keep their hands out of their pockets. In addition to his passion for building, Gene took great pride in his garden and enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.
