Duane Van Nes Obituary

Duane Truman Van Nes passed away peacefully at the Bethany Riverview in Calgary on May 4, 2020 at the age of 83 years. He leaves behind his son, Truman (Lisa); daughter, Tovie (Gord); granddaughter, Amber (Pietro); great grandson Luigi; niece Cheryl (Cory); dear friend Corey and long-time companion, Susan Faust.

Born in Saskatoon, SK, Duane came to Calgary in the 50's. In his early years, Duane and his brother Stern lived in Uranium City and he helped build the Distant Early Warning Line, also known as the DEW Line, a system of radar stations in the far northern Arctic region of Canada; something he was always very proud of. Another role he was proud of, was being the Shipping/Receiving Manager for the Eaton's store in downtown Calgary. Duane had a passion for real estate and over the years he bought and upgraded many houses. He was handy with tools and thoroughly enjoyed the renovation process.
