Dorothy Lorraine Heath was born in Barhead, Alberta, the beloved only child of Clayton and Mary Heath. She was a woman of strength, warmth, and determination, whose life was marked by hard work, deep love for family, and a genuine curiosity for the world.
Lorraine married Jerry Verokosky, with whom she shared both life and work, including time in the hotel business. She later built an impressive career with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), where she worked for 30 years. At a time when it was rare for women to hold senior management roles, Lorraine distinguished herself through dedication, intelligence, and perseverance. She retired in Port Moody, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and respect.
Lorraine was the proud and loving mother of four children: Michelle (Greg), Joanne, Michael (Holly), and Lisa (Brian). Her family continued to grow and bring her great joy through her eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and love.
She was well known for her cooking, her sharp sense of humor, and her honest way of speaking — she told it like it was, always with kindness and heart. Lorraine worked hard, lived fully, and believed deeply in seeking passion and experience. That spirit led her and her husband to travel widely, with Australia standing out as a particularly cherished highlight.
A woman of faith, Lorraine lived her Catholic values through her actions: generosity, integrity, and love for others. She was very well liked, deeply respected, and will be remembered as funny, kind, strong, and unapologetically herself.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
May she rest in the peace of Christ.
God saw the road was growing long,
And gently called you home.
Your love remains,
your faith lives on,
Until we meet again.
