Dorothy Spence

Dorothy Spence passed away peacefully on Nov 21, 2025, at Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks after a brief illness. Her husband Chris, daughter Donna and constant companion Livvie were by her side

Dorothy was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire on Dec 20, 1946. Her family relocated to Adelaide, South Australia in 1965 where she met her husband, Chris. They married in 1967 and moved to Canada in 1976 with their young family. They started in Nova Scotia and then eventually settled down in the Calgary area.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years Chris, and her daughters Dianne (Rodney) and Donna (Henco) and her sister Sylvia. She was predeceased by her son Roderick. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her Grandkids Michelle and Thomas and Spencer and Savannah and many other family and friends in Canada, England and Australia.

Chris and Donna would like to thank Okotoks Home Care for all their support and the Foothills Country Hospice for the care, comfort and support they gave for Dorothy’s last couple of weeks.  Their care and compassion to Dorothy and her family was exceptional.

A Celebration of Life for Dorothy will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 10:30am at St Paul’s Anglican Church (7 Sunmills Green SE, Calgary).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or the Foothills Country Hospice.
