Diana Campbell Obituary

Diana Campbell passed away peacefully at the age 76 years on October 4, 2020 in Calgary, Alberta.

Diana was born on January 1, 1944 in Trail, BC to Ezio and Amelia Babuin. She would later move with her family to Grand Forks, BC where she would spend the rest of her youth. Diana did very well in school with English and Math being her favorite subjects. She left the nest and went to business school in Vancouver, and from there she would move into an apartment in Trail where she would work at Cominco. Diana met James Campbell at a party in Christina Lake and soon after would marry. They moved to Penticton to start their family, but their journey would continue until the family settled in Calgary.

Diana loved being a mother and housekeeper and prided herself on keeping her home clean, baking and cooking. We fondly remember birthday cakes with coins wrapped in wax paper hidden in the homemade cakes. She would throw the best birthday parties for us kids growing up. The gifts she gave were always picked with care or made with the love and adoration if only to see us smile.

Mom was a caring, empathetic person. She had many extended family and friends that she would often talk about, and many over the years that frequently came to visit. Every Sunday she would call her mom in Grand Forks. This was always an exciting time in the household. As the years passed, mom struggled with illness and at times was very sick. It made those moments of connection even more special. In the later years, mom moved to the Brentwood Care Centre where she would live the remainder of her life. There, she would look forward to her sons' weekly visit where they would share special lunches of her favorite pizza and McDonalds.

Diana was predeceased by her son Donald Campbell in 1972; her mother Amelia Babuin in 2011; stepfather Dante Babuin; and father Ezio Babuin in 1949. She will sadly be missed by her children Brent Campbell (Kirsten) and Kelly Thomson (Patrick); her grandchildren Larissa Campbell and Charlie Campbell; her brothers Sergio Babuin (Flo) and Leo Babuin.

Memorial donations can be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/12386).

A special heartfelt thank you goes out to the nurses and staff at Sunnyside Central Brentwood Care Centre.
