Dennis Jabour, 84, of Calgary, died on Friday, May 1st, 2026 in his own unique style - somewhat abruptly, although not unexpectedly.
Dennis was a private contractor by trade and a perfectionist by nature. Known for his quick wit, dry sarcasm, and impeccably timed commentary, Dennis never missed an opportunity to keep people on their toes—or make them laugh, often at the same time. A very lucky few knew he had an amazing voice, and his deep baritone could stop you in your tracks.
He was married to the love of his life, Barb, with whom he built a life together for 47 years—one full of loyalty, laughter, and the occasional spirited debate. He was a father of two sons, Jeff and Craig, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was known for his impeccable style and taste, always looking sharp and carrying himself with unmistakable confidence.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Dennis developed a fine appreciation for food in his parents’ restaurant. In the kitchen, he was often on the periphery—quick to offer advice and always available to be the taster. His rack of lamb was legendary: perfectly cooked, expertly seasoned, and rarely open to suggestion.
Dennis would likely be very surprised to know that he will be deeply missed—and fondly remembered every time someone has the courage to say exactly what everyone else is thinking.
As per his request, there will be no service and no celebration of life. Instead, we ask that you take a quiet moment to remember him in your own way—perhaps by recalling the laughter he sparked, the dry wit he delivered so effortlessly, and the joy he found in the absurdities of life. In doing so, you’ll honour him exactly as he wanted.
