It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Robert Watson of Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
David was a proud Canadian, Albertan, and Calgarian. He was a son, husband, brother, friend, mentor, and father. He became a fixture in the Investment Banking sector both nationally and internationally. Also, his commitment to the community was apparent in his volunteer work with the Calgary Stampede on the courtesy car committee and coaching minor league hockey in Elbow Park.
David loved to travel and whenever he could he would bring along the family, making business trips also leisure trips. He was passionate about the transportation industry, especially airplanes, and helped establish two local airlines specializing in Western Canada.
David was also on the board of directors for the Calgary Transportation Association, which helped bring many international airlines to Calgary. He also loved trains and went on a few ride alongs with the Canadian Pacific Railway. His passion for the railway rubbed off on his son (Michael) who became a conductor with Canadian Pacific for 10 years in Revelstoke, BC.
David was a kind, caring, loving, and intelligent individual whose chivalry was second to none. He loved all animals, especially dogs and later on cats. He loved his friends and family, and will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held in the Spring/Summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers donations to the Revelstoke District Humane Society or the Animal Shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
