David Leverne Mason

David (Dave) passed peacefully on Monday, May 5th, 2025, in his 76th year, with his wife Doreen by his side. Dave was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Marion Mason, and his sister Janice Mason. Dave was survived by his siblings Gerry/Cathy Mason, Sandy/Bob Molson, and Marianne/Ed Boot. Dave was the loving partner and later husband of Doreen Mason, for 41 years. Dave was the cherished father/father-in-law of the late Dave Mason, Wanda Mason, Michael Mason, Amber Mason, Dylan/Elaine and Laryn McLernon and Joachim Bürgschwentner. Dave was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, who will all miss their Papa and Opapa. Dave was a dear uncle of several nieces and nephews, a mentor (Clint Oliver) and ‘buddy’ to many.

Dave was a very hard worker, during all his career. He found career opportunities mainly in Auto Body Repair/ Painting, Custom Yacht Building and Oilfield Equipment Coatings, working in these fields, from the young age of 14. Dave lived quite an adventurous life moving throughout Canada, from the east to the west coast, and for a brief period in the San Juan Islands, WA. Dave instilled a love of the great outdoors, wildlife, fishing, camping and the like, in all his children. Dave loved to swim and scuba dive. He also loved music, particularly rock and this love of music was something that Doreen and all of his kids held in common. Dave also loved his sports. He was a great supporter of his beloved Edmonton Oilers, London Knights, Miami Dolphins & the Toronto Blue Jays. “Lets Go Oilers!!”

“Dad, I would like to thank you, for always flying my brother Dave and I about, every summer, as young children. ‘You Made Me Love Travel and Adventure’ in my life and I thank you for that.” - Love your daughter Wanda.

Doreen would like to thank all the staff at Bethany Riverview, and the Peter Lougheed Centre, AB Homecare Services and a few dear friends of hers, for the very kind and compassionate care of Dave, and herself as well, in the past year.

Cremation has been entrusted with Simply Cremations & Funeral Services, Calgary, NE. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
