On February 12th, 2024, at 7:55pm, Corinne Craig started her next adventure with both of her children beside her, at the age of 63.
Corinne had an unending quest for learning that has spread into all parts of her life. Growing up on a farm gave her a love of the outdoors and taught her hard work. She knew the names of countless plants and flowers, mountains, and hiking trails. She was happiest in the mountains and, even laying in bed in hospice, would dream of being among the geological wonders in her backyard.
Corinne’s work was not the primary focus of her life. However, her work at IBM gave her many lifelong friends that she valued immensely. While raising two young kids, she followed her passions for helping others with a Master of Education in Educational Psychology at the University of Calgary. Her work at Seeds Connections, in the not-for-profit world, aligned very well with her caring nature and quest to help others.
Corinne Craig was a beautiful, gentle, caring soul. She cared deeply about the people in her life, even those just passing through. In the last months of her life in hospice, her smiles and “thanks, team!” won over many a nurse, HCA and volunteer. We are so thankful for the amazing staff and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice, and all of Corinne’s amazing family; especially her siblings, Dianne, Marianne, Owen and Lesley, and their kids, niece Krista, Corinne’s cousins Dawn and Sherry, former husband and successful co-parent, Ross Taylor, and the incredible, kind, generous friends that have been through this journey with us.
She will be deeply missed by too many to count.
We will find her in the mountains.
Corinne wrote this:
“Corinne was a caring, compassionate participant in this world. She gave advice and help to whoever asked and sometimes when they did not.
Her quest for learning, growing, and experiencing new places defined her life. Being with her two children, helping them grow and become who they were meant to be, was an integral part of her life.
Whether she was on top of a mountain or in the middle of a city’s downtown, she always looked for the beauty around her. Surrounded by nature, people, family or friends, she strove to find the best in each of them.
Corinne deeply loved her children, Jocelyn and Gillian Taylor, and her wonderful partner, Gervais Henry, who stood by and supported her without fail or complaint.
May her travels on be as adventurous and eye-opening as this lifetime was.”
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Rosedale Hospice, #1245 – 70 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2X8, https://www.hospicecalgary.ca/support/donate/givenow/
We are happy we had the chance to celebrate Corinne’s life with her in September. We will plan a small celebration to spread her ashes in the summer.
