Connie Gibson Obituary

Connie Mary Gibson (nee McCarl) passed away in her 69th year, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, after a brave five-month battle with cancer.

Connie was born on November 2, 1954, in Guelph, Ontario, where she grew up and eventually met and married her husband, Ted.  Connie and Ted moved across the country to Calgary, Alberta, in the fall of 2016 to be closer to the grandchildren, who were the absolute lights of her life.

Connie was fiercely devoted to her husband, her daughter, her grandchildren, her cats, and of course, Bruce Springsteen. She loved reading, watching her grandsons play hockey, watching her granddaughter do gymnastics, and listening to her favourite music, either oldies or The Boss.

Connie is immensely missed by her husband Ted Gibson; daughter Shannon Miller (Mike); grandsons, Brian, and Eric Finnigan; granddaughter Holly Miller; mother Mary Roach McCarl; sister Bonnie Buckley (Charlie); brother Ken McCarl (Tamara); and sister-in-law Carol MacDonald (Jacques). Connie is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Bill Buckley, Aaron Buckley, Stephanie Buckley, Kayla Ashley, Zach, and Ryan McCarl. Connie was predeceased by her father, Ken Mc Carl Sr (2005).

A graveside service will be held at Stone United Church (5370 4th Line, Guelph-Eramosa, ON) on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by a Celebration of Life and reception to be held at 130 Grange Street, Guelph in the lounge. Everyone who would like to attend is welcome to join us at either location to help us celebrate and remember Connie.
