Christine (Christel) Alice Kopp

Christine Alice Kopp, age 75, of Ottawa, died on October 5, 2023. Christel, as most of us knew her, the first child of Clemens Max and Alice Rosalind Kopp, loving wife and mother of 7, passed away on the morning of October 5th at the Chinook Care Center in Calgary, AB after enduring the worst of her battle against MSA (multiple system atrophy).

She is survived by her loving husband Hugo Nava López; her six children Hugo, Guadalupe “Beba”, Clemens, Peter, Mariano, and Alice; and her grandchildren. As well as her sister Anne Marie, brother Peter, and cousin Lewis Burpee.

She was preceded in death by her beloved little daughter Dolly.

Christel devoted her life to her children and also had a passion for languages and worked as a teacher for many years and as a translator. She was an outstanding mathematician and musician, she played the piano and the cello. She enjoyed knitting and baking. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Family Funeral Service will be celebrated at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services South (5502 2 St SW) on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
