Charles Angus Fry passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary, AB, on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the age of 75.
Charles (Charlie) is survived by his wife Betty Fry (Gibbons); daughters, Jennifer Wong (Fry) husband Montgomery Wong and Alison Peltokangas (Fry) husband Uriah Peltokangas; and his grandchildren Jacob and Hannah Wong. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Fry and parents Georgeina and Jake Fry.
Charlie, as he was known, grew up in Gander, NL. He was a devoted husband to Betty for 52 amazing years and a devoted father to Jennifer and Alison. He was a proud grandfather to Jacob and Hannah. He taught them both how to drive, paint, landscape and fix anything you can think of.
He loved to spend time with his family and friends, traveling (most recently to Spain and Scotland), and camping, and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He held a fond memory of a helicopter trip across Gander Lake to go ice fishing with Jennifer and Alison.
Charlie started his career in Gander, Newfoundland in 1973, as a Customer Service Agent with Eastern Provincial Airways (EPA), to Canadian Pacific Airlines, to Canadian Airlines International, and finally to Air Canada in Calgary, Alberta, where he retired in 2004.
He made great friends in the airline industry, where he shared many laughs and stories over the years. Charlie will be dearly missed by all who knew him –
Husband (Chucky Boy), Dad, Poppy, Charlie; Until we meet again…
