Carolyn Lea Flath

Born October 26, 1960, in Cold Lake, AB, passed away at the age of 65 years on June 16, 2026. She is survived by her children George Cross III, Dallas Cross, Lisa Lecocq, Steven Cross and her grandchildren George Cross IV, Ellie Cross, Noah Cross, Devin-Leigh Lecocq,  Deegan Lecocq,  Levi Cross, Jacob Cross and predeceased by her parents Gary Flath and Leona Morris. Leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and incredible determination.

To know Carolyn was to know a woman who gave everything she had to the people and causes she cared about. As a single mother for most of her life, she was entirely dedicated to her children. She worked tirelessly to give them the best life possible, teaching them by example what true strength looks like. That same drive was evident in her 28-year career with Avis Budget Group. Carolyn did not just do her job; she poured her heart into it, constantly recognized by colleagues and leadership for going above and beyond every single day.

When Carolyn committed to something, she went the distance -  literally. She was a passionate supporter of the Kidney Foundation and completed an astonishing 10 Kidney Marches. Walking 100 kilometers in three days across a decade of marches, she raised significant funds and awareness to fight kidney disease, proving there was no challenge too big for her to tackle. At home, Carolyn’s heart belonged to her dog, whom she loved fiercely. She leaves behind her loyal companion of 14 years, her dog Rio, who was always by her side.

She had a love for the outdoors, whether it was a hike in K-Country, a walk around the Glenmore Reservoir or time spent fishing with her grandchildren. Carolyn had a love of sports as a spectator in the stands cheering on her children and then grandchildren at a hockey, soccer, lacrosse, baseball game or a gymnastics or Cheer event.

She loved her music and what a variety it was…from Ozzy Osbourne to Rod Stewart; she would attend as many concerts as she could for a night out singing and dancing to her favourites.

Carolyn had a rare gift for touching the lives of everyone she met. She was loved by so many and will be forever remembered for her generous spirit, her beautiful strength, and her unwavering loyalty.
