It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Brian Harvey Robbins on Sunday, March 6th, 2022, at the age of 79 from the Age Care Midnapore Home. Family and friends will remember Brian as a kind and respectful man with a very dry sense of humor.
Brian was born in Regina, Sask. on December 1st, 1942, to Harvey and Mildred Robbins. Brian joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was trained as a Firefighter. Following his service, he began his career in the restaurant industry, starting at A&W followed by McDonalds, Long John Silvers, to name a few and finally the move to Calgary in 1979 with St, Hubert’s. During these 20 years the family moved to many cities in Canada. In 1985, his career took a shift, and he began managing Service Stations for the next 17 years. In 1991 Janet joined him and as Associates, worked together until their retirement in 2007. Retirement didn’t stop him from the need to stay busy, so he started a new challenge as a school bus driver. Brian absolutely loved driving the big yellow bus and the kids loved their bus driver. He happily drove all four grandchildren on his BIG YELLOW BUS at one time or another.
Brian was a devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders football fan, always there to cheer on his Roughies in Taylor Field. He participated in several marathons, including the New York City, Chicago, and Portland but his most memorable one was the 1993 Honolulu marathon. This was Brian’s first marathon and a huge accomplishment for him. In addition, Brian enjoyed his summers at the lake, boating and visiting with friends.
Brian leaves behind Janet, his loving wife of 56 years; children Mark (Sandra) and Rick (Lisa); grandchildren Connor, Meghan, Spencer and Jered; and four bonus grandchildren Brooklyn, Ethan, Addison, and Nash. He will also be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Lillian (Jim) Casey, brothers-in-law Ken Leitch, and John Dzik, cousins Doug, Bev and Penny, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Brian is predeceased by his father Harvey (1967), Mother Mildred (2005), sisters Linda (1999) and Carol (2007).
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 pm on March 18th. At Evan J. Strong at (3625 12 Street NE, Calgary Alberta, T2E 6P4).
