Beatrice (Betty) Koehler Obituary

Forever In Our Hearts

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beatrice (Betty) Koehler on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the age of 93.

Betty is lovingly remembered by daughter Deborah (Garth) Hollinger with their children Pamela (Jeffrey), Rachelle (Huan) Ho and Stephanie; son Graham with his children Kristin (Marty) and Steven; Lynda (Darcy) Fuhrman with their son Skyler; her sister Millicent (John) Myers; great-grandchildren Evan, Jayden, Ryder, Annalise, Gunnar, Slade, Dylan, Hailey, Maverick and Sienna. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Calvin, by her parents John and Emily (Casey) Tate, two brothers Walter Tate and Norman Tate, and four sisters Dorothy (Eric) Lane, Joan (William) Prystai, Gwenneth (John) Mondry and Audrey Tate.

Betty was born on August 2, 1930, on the family farm at Dilke Sk to John and Emily Tate. She was the sixth of eight children. The family moved to Regina when her father accepted a job as a civilian member of the RCMP. She graduated from Balfour Collegiate and from Normal School in Moose Jaw where she received her Teaching Certificate.

Betty’s favourite times were those spent with her family. Her many interests were pursued with zest. She was an avid golfer and bowler, an active member of Lion Ls for many years and a weekly bridge player for more than 60 years. Betty’s passion for knowledge knew no boundaries. When the time came that she had access to the internet she was thrilled to be able to research anything and everything that she had been “wondering” about.

In 2020 when Betty’s health started to deteriorate, she asked to be moved to Calgary to be closer to her daughter, Lynda.

At Betty’s request there will be no funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

We would like to thank the staff at Bow View Manor for their dedicated and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s name to the charity of your choice.
