Barbara "Barb" Ulrich Obituary

Heaven got a whole lot brighter on May 24, 2025 when Barb Ulrich went to be with Jesus.

Growing up in Regina and later in Edmonton, Barb was the fourth of Bob & Muriel Stovin’s five kids. In 1977, Barb married Steve, and they raised their two boys Michael and Bradley in Kelowna, Colorado, and eventually Calgary.

Family was everything to Barb. Regardless of geography, the Stovin clan (aka the “KayRichMcStovPotTers”) would come together regularly to celebrate with great enthusiasm and creative flair. There was nothing better for Barb than family gatherings, especially when her grandchildren entered the fold.

Grandma Barb or “GB” as she was affectionately called by her grandkids (and many others), was the grandmother every child dreams of having. From the day they were born, each of her four grandchildren were showered with acts of love such as massages, picnics, baking, bubble tea, and, of course, swimming! Barb was infatuated with her precious grandchildren and had a unique and powerful bond with each one.

Barb had a passion for hospitality, which she demonstrated in a variety of ways. Whether she was administering one of her revitalizing massages, or baking an impeccable loaf of her exquisite sourdough, Barb infused love into everything she did. Her delight in making all things beautiful was a reflection of her heart.

To know Barb was to know her love for Jesus and all He represents. Her deep, abiding faith was her anchor since the early days of her 47-year marriage to Steve when they both gave their lives to the Lord. It brings her family great peace to know that she is with Jesus now and that they will see her again.

Barb is survived by her husband Steve, sons Michael (Jodi) and Brad (Shelby), grandchildren Harper, James, Grayson, and Zyion, brother Ric, sisters Sandee (Dave) and Cheryl (Paul), brothers-in-law Tom and Marsh (Janice), sister-in-law Anne, and all of Barb’s beloved nieces and nephews and their families. Barb is pre-deceased by her parents Bob & Muriel and her sister Gayle.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at C3 Church (91 Commercial Court, Calgary) on Saturday, June 14 at 1:30pm. To join us via livestream, please click this link Barb's Ulrich Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honour Barb, her family encourages you to book a skin cancer screening.
