Ali Akbar Ansari, beloved husband of Deborah Ansari, passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 5, 2025.
Akbar was born in Tehran, Iran on August 1, 1959. After completing high school and his military service, he came to Canada to attend University.
Ali attended both the University of New Brunswick and York University, attaining an Honours Bachelor of Science degree. Following this, he completed a program for Medical Technologist at the Michener Institute.
This career path, however, turned out not to be his passion, and he left his position at the hospital to join the Toronto Police Service as a Constable. Akbar held many positions within the Toronto Police Service. He was promoted to Sergeant and Detective where he worked in Homicide and Sex Crimes. At one point, he was a one-man team solving cold cases.
Akbar had a strong love of family and travel. He adored his wife and two daughters, Sarah and Susan. They enjoyed family adventures, travelling around the world together. His love of seeking life’s adventures continued with his grandchildren, William, Michael and Henry and his dear son-in-law Tim. Akbar’s family was everything to him, and 'The Bears' enjoyed life together.
Akbar was humble, ethical, respectful, kind, and selfless. He showed a quiet strength in his family and was the voice of reason. He will be forever loved and missed.
