Alan Byrne

It is with the deepest sadness that we share the news of Alan Byrnes' passing, on Sunday, May 12, 2024. We are comforted to know that he died peacefully in his sleep. He was the beloved husband to the late Donna Byrne (2022). We can confidently say he was just waiting to be with her again.  

Alan will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his mother, Carmel; his 2 brothers, Danny (Dawn) and Shane (Laura); his sons, Sean (Erin) and Owen (Lindsay); and Alan’s 6 beautiful grandchildren. 

Alan was born on June 11, 1951, in Dublin Ireland. His family relocated in 1955, with Danny and Alan coming a year later in 1956. They initially were in Edmonton, Lacombe and Balzac, before settling in Calgary after Alan’s youngest brother was born. Later, Alan worked for the City of Calgary, where he met Donna. They married in 1983, with Sean and Owen quickly added to the family. 

Alan’s death comes as a shock to all of us, it was unexpected but in the same breath we know he is with Donna, finally at peace.
