Frank Earl Starratt in the care of his wife Annetta (Patterson) passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Frank was born in Edmonton, Alberta where he resided until his graduation with a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1953. The girl he met at “Y” Junior Leaders became his teenage sweetheart and they married the same week he graduated. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past May 2. Besides Annetta, Frank leaves behind his children John (René), Laura, and Owen; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters. He was predeceased by daughter Diane (John Newnham) in 2013. Frank worked in the Calgary oil and gas industry for production companies and in consulting roles until retirement. During the 1960’s and early 1970’s Frank volunteer coached competitive swimming. He was a Life Member of APEGA as well as a past member of the Calgary Petroleum Club and Willow Park Golf Course. Frank and Annetta had many wonderful trips together but enjoyed spending the past 50 summers in their Willow Park home with a backyard pool the most. Papa looked forward to visits from grandkids and great-grandkids to be able to share a lifelong love of swimming. At Frank’s request a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the local YMCA Strong Kids (https://ymca.ca/Get-Involved/Donate/YMCA-Strong-Kids-Campaign) or a children’s charity of your choice.
