Gordon Busch Obituary

Gordon Busch, aged 57, passed away at the Southwood Hospice, Calgary after a valiant 4 1/2-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Gordon was born in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan to Wilmer and Doreen. He was the second son born and had 4 older sisters. He was followed by another brother. He was raised on the family farm and took his public education at Hodgeville schools. Gord was very involved with any sport he could as a child and young adult. He also was a social person and a willing participant in new things, except cheering for any teams other than the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Maple Leafs.

He attended SAIT and earned his 4th Class Power Engineering certificate. He worked in Red Deer at Superior Firetrucks and Comgroup. After moving to Calgary, he was employed by Black and McDonald/ Concept doing building maintenance. He transitioned to the City of Calgary, working for Calgary Transit in Building Maintenance; his last place of employment.

While Gord was working and living in Red Deer, he met Vicky his wife. They continued to share life and love until his death. They were blessed with a daughter Isabella. He loved his family deeply and cherished any moments they could be together. Gord never missed a Family Reunion unless circumstances simply were beyond attending. He was a zealous Saskatchewan Roughriders supporter and the best coach they never had. He also loved Cribbage and Catan with his family.

Gord was predeceased by his parents, Doreen and Wilmer, and by Vicky’s parents – Teodolo and Aurelia. He is survived by his loving wife Vicky, his children Jordan and Isabella; and his siblings: Gaylene (Kevin), Kathy (Canute), Chris (Bill), Sandi, Ken, and Paul (Roxanna). He is also survived by Vicky’s siblings: Merle, Aleth, Cecille, Ronnie (Maria) and Ivy; along with numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished.

The family would like to thank Dr. Card (Oncologist) and all the front-line healthcare professionals who had cared for Gord through his journey with cancer. The family is especially thankful to the staff at Southwood Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion expressed to Gord and the family through his final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at Shepherd King Lutheran Church (804 – 75 Ave SW) on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 am. Saskatchewan Roughriders’ shirts would be appreciated attire.
